HR Trends: Fewer Layoffs, More Hybrid Workplaces
More than half of companies are remote or hybrid and have no plans to bring employees back to the office full-time.
Despite fears of a recession, fewer companies are planning layoffs. Only 29% of companies are undergoing or planning layoffs, a decrease from 45% in the spring 2023 survey. This shift indicates a move towards retaining staff while navigating economic uncertainties.
More than half of companies (54%) now offer remote or hybrid work schedules and have no plans to return all employees to the office full-time. This reflects a growing acceptance of flexible work arrangements, with only 10% of companies requiring employees to be in the office five days a week.
Employee Retention Strategies
To entice employees, 69% of companies are offering hybrid work arrangements, along with other benefits such as leadership development (55%), flexible work hours (52%), and tuition reimbursement (49%). These initiatives aim to create a more appealing work environment amid ongoing hiring challenges.
